GGR Betong started in 2014 as a tribute orchestra to the late noise musician Zbigniew Karkowski who, during the 1980s, lived and made everlasting marks on the streets and venues of Gothenburg. The idea was to do a one-off concert and play a particular piece of heavy noise music by Karkowski, and then move on. Instead, the orchestra continued to play, and has since commissioned and are gradually building a repertoire of noise works.
